For the Big Apple, the great Blizzard of 2015 was forecast to rival the paralyzing 1888 storm. Up to three feet of snow was predicted. The city tallied 10 inches fell. “This is a better-safe-than-sorry scenario,” Mayor Bill de Blassio added. “We’ve dodged the bullet.”

ADIDAS GROUP TO SELL ROCKPORT TO A NEW ENTITY FORMED BY BERKSHIRE PARTNERS AND NEW BALANCE

The adidas Group announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Rockport business to a new entity formed by Berkshire Partners and New Balance for a total consideration of $280 million, most of which will be paid in cash with the remainder comprised of notes. 

adidasはRockportをNew BalanceとBerkshire Partnersの合弁企業に売却すると1月23日発表した。当初の観測ではRockportではなくReebok売却が濃厚とみられていた。Reebokを温存したのは、今後のグループ再建に貢献すると認識しているからとみられている。現在世界規模のフィットネスブームになっているから、たしかにReebokのポテンシャルは高いが、adidas経営陣がReebokを育成できるかどうかは疑問という見方の方が多い。
