Making Waves : J.Crew x Birdwell
Back in the early ’60s, Birdwell was
one of the first brands to specifically design its swimwear with surfers in
mind, using dense two-ply nylon and a triple-stitched construction to ensure
its shorts could stand up to serious swells. “As a kid going to Santa Monica
Beach, Birdwell was always the standard to measure everything else against in
board shorts,” says Natas.
J.CrewがBirdwellとのコラボレーションショーツを発売した。Style301へのオマージュだが、プロダクトはJ.Crewエクスクルーシブで、微妙にツイストをかけている。Frank
Muytjens（J.Crew Men’s Executive Director）も子供の頃はBirdwellを履いていたに違いない。
Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa wins Boston Marathon Caloline Rotich of Kenya wins in splint to finish
Boston's greatest annual tradition took place
Monday. The Patriots' Day celebration, highlighted by the Boston Marathon. This
year's marathon was won by Lelisa Desisa from Ethiopia on the men's side and
Caroline Rotich from Kenya on the women's side. The race lasted more than eight
hours from when the first competitors started just before 9 a.m. to when the
last competitor crossed the finish line.

Nike Internationalist “Jacquard” Pack
The Internationalist first appeared in 1982 New
York Marathon. Created for long-distance running, it debuted with marathon
maestro Alberto Salazar. In the same weekend that Nike aired its very first TV
commercial for a general branding exercise rather than promoting any particular
shoe. It was 33 year ago, and the Internationalist was still Nike’s
star design.
Nikeはレトロモデルであっても、Re-Masterを基本として守ってきたが、最近は素材やディテールの変更で次々にQuickstrikeを発売することが多くなった。しかし今回の”Jacquzrd”はちゃんとRe-Masterバージョンを投入した。Stan Smithの"Jacquard"（仮称）と同時発売になったが、今回は優劣がはっきりついた。

The latest adidas Stan Smith is a complete
makeover pair for Spring/Summer 2015. Adidas doesn’t call it Jacquard, a
Jacquard-like Stan Smith features original form on the tongue and traditional
heel tab too. The pair will arrive at retailers in the near future.
Stan Smith “Jacquard”（仮称）は久々のホットアイテムに躍進しそうな期待がもたれている。Blush Blueモデルのほうがエレガントだが、Core Blackモデルも悪くない。アッパーのサイドパネルはウーブン素材であるが、Primeknit製法ではなく、Jacquard風の素材である。

この数年間、春に向けて発売が恒例になっていたKillshotが今年も発売された。1月に復刻モデルがsize?などから発売されていたが、3色のSwooshカラーが揃ったのは今年になって初めてである。

Another Big Wednesday : New Surfers Paradise

BillabonとQuiksilverは相変わらずサバイバルゲ−ムを展開中で、今年もビーチは新加入ブランドでにぎわっている。しかし相手は昔のようなグロメットやJuniorsi Surferではない。主役はアダルトサーファー、それも女性である。ビーチの主役は子供から大人、それも女性に移ったのである。
