2016 Kentucky Derby

Nyquist added the 142nd Kentucky Derby to his already impressive and perfect resume. Nyquist took the lead from Gun Runner in the upper stretch, opened a daylight margin and had more than enough to hold off Exaggerator by 1 1/4 lengths to win. Attendance of 167,227 was the second largest crowd in Derby history, just under the record of 170,513 in 2015.
